Washington DC Meetings 2018
In January 2018 we were fortunate to be able to go to Washington DC for meetings about Leaders in Lowell and our events. On our first day in DC we had meetings with staffers from the offices of Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren. In these meetings we discussed the opioid epidemic and how to best address the important issue.
The next day we were honored to have been able to have a meeting at the White House with the White House Fellow that works in the Office of the Vice President. In this meeting we discussed how we can best address important issues at a community level and what the administration is doing to promote community engagement and youth involvement. It was an honor to be able to have this meeting and to meet in such a historic and important location.
Later that day we had lunch at the Lafayette restaurant at the Hay Adams hotel. At this lunch we were surprised, but very excited, to be able to meet former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright and former National Security Advisor and UN Ambassador, Susan Rice.
Due to the success of this trip and these meetings we will be going back to DC in January 2019 to discuss more important issues and how Leaders in Lowell may address them.
